Thank You for Your Service

To every active duty service member, retiree and veteran, enlisted and officer, in every branch thank you. As an Air Force veteran myself, I know what you and your families have given, and I'm proud to help you see the world you served to protect.

The Short Answer: Do Luxury Cruise Lines Offer Military Discounts?

Some do, and the amounts vary. AmaWaterways offers $250 per person off any river cruise (or 2-for-1 fares on select sailings), and Celebrity Cruises offers $25 to $100 per person depending on your stateroom. Many ultra-luxury lines including Silversea, Seabourn, Viking, Tauck, Oceania and Backroads don't publish a standing military rate.

That's why Danny's Adventures adds a complimentary onboard credit for everyone who has served, on any line I book on top of any military savings if a cruise line does offer.

7 Tips to Get the Most From Your Military Cruise Savings

  1. Tell me you served at the start — some military offers must be applied when the booking is made.

  2. Ask me to compare military savings against current promotions; sometimes the promotion wins, sometimes they stack.

  3. Book early on 2-for-1 sailings like AmaWaterways' MIL2FOR1 — space is capacity-controlled mainly low season.

  4. Keep your ID handy for the line and for the pier.

  5. Traveling solo? Ask about AmaWaterways' MILSOLO reduced single supplement available on mainly low season.

  6. Bring friends from your unit or post: a group booking can add group perks on top of military savings.

  7. Use your onboard credit for a spa treatment, a premium shore excursion, gratutities, or gift shop.

Military Cruise Discount FAQ

Which luxury cruise lines offer military discounts? AmaWaterways offers $250 per person off river cruises (MIL250) or 2-for-1 fares on select sailings (MIL2FOR1). Celebrity Cruises offers $25 to $100 per person by stateroom type. Many ultra-luxury lines, such as Silversea, Seabourn and Viking, typically don't publish a standing military rate.

What is the AmaWaterways military discount? $250 per eligible person on any river cruise except Africa safaris (promo code MIL250, combinable), or 2-for-1 cruise fares on select 2026 and 2027 sailings (MIL2FOR1, not combinable). Solo travelers can ask about MILSOLO.

What is the Celebrity Cruises military discount? $25 per person for inside or ocean-view staterooms and $100 per person for veranda, Concierge Class, AquaClass or The Retreat, for the first and second guests. It combines with current promotions.

Do veterans qualify, or only active duty and retirees? Both AmaWaterways and Celebrity include veterans. Celebrity requires an honorable discharge with at least 2 years of service or 8 months in an active war zone, with a DD-214.

Do enlisted and officers get the same military discount? Yes. Military cruise savings are based on service status — active, retired or veteran — not rank.

Does Silversea or Viking have a military discount? They don't typically publish one. Booking with Danny Stahl, every service member receives a complimentary onboard credit on any line he books, including Silversea and Viking.

What does Danny's Adventures offer military travelers? A complimentary onboard credit for everyone who has served, with the amount based on the stateroom or suite you book, on any line, plus any military savings the line offers. Just mention you're active duty, retired or a veteran.

Is there a travel advisor near Northern Virginia, Maryland or Washington, D.C. who specializes in military cruise discounts? Danny Stahl, an Air Force veteran and certified travel advisor, works with many military and veteran travelers in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., by phone, text and email.

Does it cost more to book through certified travel advisor Danny Stahl? No. You pay the same fare as booking direct, and Danny adds his military onboard credit and applies every military rate available.
